Thomas working on the scratches from last nights crash

Until now it’s amazing how things are going for our team in BM.  Last year the Cygnus Beta(mine bike is the Cygnus Alpha)was already pretty fast in BM and we have done a lot of work on it last year. We changed the bike from periscope to camera to reduce the earodymanical drag a. Jam Marcel and Thomas both use the camera now. David is still using the old periscope, because he don’t feel save and comfortable with the camera. The paintjob is done to make the bike more smooth and the frame is changed to make it more stiff. We also changed the wheelfairrings which was made in to much hurry last year. Even 2 weeks before BM we where still working on the bike to get it ready for BM. We knew it was way more faster than last year, but could only guess how much.  Even the last testpossibility at the RDW track they were still working at the bike for BM while I was doing tire tests for them with the Cygnus Alpha(our endurancebike). Without possibility to test all the last updates they have gone to BM. For now it looks like all the work is paying off.

After the qualifications all 3 riders where in the top 5 with Jan Marcel at top with almost 111 km/h and a new BM qualification record. Wow, unbelievable with all the big teams and names around we did it.

In the evening session there was a lot of wind, so no change of legal runs while the wind has to be below 6 km/h. All 3 riders just use their run to get experience with the bike and the road and saved their power for better moments. Due the wind David, the last rider of our team that day, crashed while he slowed down after his run because of a flat reartire. The wind was pushing the rear tire against the carbon, looks like the hole has to be a little bit bigger in heavy winds. Not bad when you have seen the hole, the tolerance is 2 layers of sandpaper between the tire and the carbon. Not bad at all, but for heavy wind to risky. There is no damage at all with the crash at all, they just need some filler and sandpaper to make paint smooth again. Tomorrow another change to break some records. Looks like at least some personal records will be broken, with the qualification record of Jan Marcel van Dijken in mind maybe even moreJ
